Our
Story
Springbox is an initiative by filmmakers, designers and artists creating content, events and experiences across platforms for over 15 years. Inspired by the oral tradition of India, we believe storytelling can help create new experiences combined with digital technologies. Springbox has worked on a range of subjects like social work, health, women, rural development, tourism industry and sports. We have produced over 150 sensitive and thought provoking films, public service ads, events, news capsules and documentary films. Our continued focus has been on projects that inspire, celebrate India’s shared culture and diversity. We also focus on building sustainable practices that have a positive impact on communities.
In a world where the culture, arts and creative spaces are being forced into compartments, Springbox’s work has encouraged collaboration bringing together diverse voices to initiate a dialogue that is of importance to audiences and citizens today. Apart from films, Springbox has worked with large teams of designers, technicians and artists creating events that give a multilayered experience combining the arts with digital technologies.
In the past we have curated several events including Namaste Orchha (2020), Ram Van Gaman Paryatan Paripath launch event and the National Tribal Dance festival ((2021).
The common theme in these events were performances and immersive experiences that highlighted a destination, heritage or culture that could create a new economy around travel and tourism. The events would initiate conversations on encouraging local entrepreneurs, craftsmen, performers and content creators to help create employment opportunities in the future.
We have also curated one day events in Delhi like the Slow Brunch (2021) in the heart of Delhi at Bikaner House to highlight the culture, cuisine crafts and living heritage Chhattisgarh with a focus on engaging with national media and social media influencers.
Springbox has always campaigned for creating platforms for artists in the cultural space. During the Covid crisis several artists faced a crisis in terms of lack of audiences and performances. Springbox partnered with Longform, Book My Show and Red FM to create a campaign that aims to spread awareness about the challenges faced by various artists across India and help develop avenues to support them. In the first leg, a five-week long programme was held featuring a series of concerts under the theme Folk Fridays that was broadcast live on the Book My Show website (2021).
While creating events and experiences that impact human lives is what we adore, we also keep in mind the need to preserve and conserve the heritage and values that all of us share. Our continued focus has been to celebrate the diversity around us, forging that space for multiple voices to come together. Our strength has been to work with many agencies, institutions and government departments bringing them together towards creating new experiences.
Yasmin Kidwai
Yasmin is an entrepreneur, an award-winning filmmaker and festival curator. She has produced over 50 documentaries on socially relevant issues meant to spark meaningful dialogue and drive change. Yasmin recognized the power of storytelling in sensitizing audiences and bringing together diverse voices to work towards a vibrant, humane society. As a festival curator, her sense of aesthetics, keen eye for detail and research define her approach. She has collaborated with musicians, artisans, conservators and digital artists on cross-media projects, events and campaigns.
Amit Kilam
Amit has been an integral part of music band Indian Ocean for over two decades. He has travelled all over the country on music tours and played at several international music festivals. Amit has collaborated with several folk, classical and contemporary musicians to create new sounds. He has programmed content for events and experiences bringing together diverse musicians for performances.
Fazal Kidwai
Fazal Kidwai has been involved in filmmaking for more than a decade and has made films on diverse subjects. Fazal has been part of projects and collaborations involving a large team of artists and technicians. He is a skilled organizer and adept at working with multiple teams on creative endevours. In recent years Fazal has led teams on ground organizing events and experiences across India.
Sudhesh Unniraman
With over 25 years of experience on several projects for television and voluntary organizations, Sudhesh has worked as Content Producer, Director and Writer. He has produced over 500 hours of broadcast content, long documentaries and advocacy films concerning diverse social issues that have been telecast on BBC WORLD, Discovery Networks, Star TV, Travel Channel UK and National Geographic Asia. Sudhesh now works in developing strategy, programming and content for events, experiences and museums.
Mishaal Shetty
Mishaal has 6+ years of creative and design oriented experience working with brands like Microsoft India, Godrej Properties, IIT Delhi, Netflix and Vice Media. From creating logos and visual language for events and companies to crafting new age digital experiences, he is primarily a storyteller who is focused on creating engaging narratives for brands and organisations through the visual medium. His working knowledge of digital, broadcast and print platforms lends to incorporate emerging trends and technologies into his work. Spring Box works with Longform PR and Brandwidth Events as ground partners.
T. Thomas Koshy
T. Thomas Koshy is a filmmaker and writer with over 25 years of experience in television, documentary-making, radio, and corporate content creation. He has worked with the Indian Navy, BSF, CRPF, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, various UN bodies, and companies like EY, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Kia. His scripts have been presented by Om Puri, Boman Irani, Mallika Sarabhai, and Sanjana Kapoor, among others. Thomas led teams on five continents for Facebook and WhatsApp projects and was part of the Emmy-nominated Al Jazeera English team covering the Nepal earthquake in 2015.

Orchha wasn't a new place for me, as I had been there many times during my childhood. But what Namaste Orchha presented was a very different version of this quaint town hidden amid wilderness. The events were absolutely of state-of-the-art quality and were very professionally organised. It was really a nice time hanging around in the same familiar place with some like-minded unfamiliar people.
The whole experience of seeing Orchha all decked up for a three-day extravaganza filled with music, dance, food and heritage tales was probably the biggest takeaway from Namaste Orchha.

What made this particularly special was how each event focused on bringing out the best of orchhas attractions. The curated events were further enhanced by the participation of the finest talents in their field of interest, be it the music and dance,the history and heritage, the food ,the choreography, adventure sports, crafts etc. Orchha itself is a gem of a place and I was really happy that MP Tourism chose to highlight it's splendid attractions in the broader framework of the states Tourism product line. I do hope the festival finds a place in the annual events calendar of the state Department of Tourism.
Also what was really important was the superb coordination of the festival.kudos to all involved in this massive excercise
